NNOoo Politics Pls!

WorkI went to work as usual in the morning today. The only difference was, a dear friend who was suppose to hitch a ride, woke up late from bed which made me close to late but I made it just in time for work! =)
I knew something was not right since I woke up in the morning but I just did not know what. My snooze was accidentally off (I wonder how) and I got up late.
Things were just not as smooth as normal days. As soon as I got to the office, one of my colleagues told me something which I was unaware of.
You see, I was given a task by one of the manager, Miss S, to be completed by the end of my intern. But being a manager herself, she is constantly busy with her own work. When I have completed what she asked for, I was told to refer to her assistant for further guidance on how to progress from what I have done. I have made sure that I constantly update this particular assistant of her's, Miss R, on my work progress. If not, I made sure I have ask for guidance whenever I face problems in that task.
To my surprise, Miss R did not tell Miss S about the progress of my work and Miss S does not know anything about it at all. This issue had to turn a round to my knowledge. What Miss S knows was the last status which I told her and nothing from there anymore. I was accused of not doing work. How ridiculous? I take work home so that I could complete it in the time frame given.
Mum told me this is a small matter and it is just the beginning for me but I honestly do not think I can handle such nonsense from such thrash people. I do not blame my manager for this as I understand she is loaded with work herself. But I am honestly very furious with her malay assistant! ARGH!!!
It Could Have Been Better

WorkOh well, after receiving numerous personal replies to my previous blog "10 Reasons Why Studying is Better Than Working", I thought I should not be so negative about it after all. So I thought I should come out with a few reasons why my intern is fun after all.
#1: The company is prestigious
Like the classic saying which I like to quote, we seldom think of what we have instead often think of what we have missed. Fits my situation perfectly! I miss those times I had with ADSP and the bunch of 'monkeys' I worked with but regret so much with CIMB Group. To my knowledge, many would love to join CIMB Group due to its well known bonus gift-aways annually. To top it off, the company provides many benefits that you would not believe most companies would provide. In addition to its current prestige in the banking field in the country, more of the reasons why so many people are eager to join them.
As I know, the recruting process is grueling for many too. I have a friend, KS, who tops results back in university who went through the whole damn process. Four rounds all together inclusive of IQ, EQ, personality test, presentations... and you name it! And he only applied for a trainee's position. Still, many are interested.
I guess it was blessings from my lucky stars that I got a place for intern there for the good of my testimonial later on post graduation. Besides that, I do not think I enjoy the culture there.
#2: Corporate attire required
Although I do not enjoy dressing up for work, but I have to admit that the requirement of the HR department for the employees to dress up for the conventional corporate look, makes me enjoy looking at others. *LOL*
For males, they are required to wear a tie. Must! The rest should be quite alike everywhere else. For the females, any sandals peeping the toes are NO NOs! Shirts must be collared or else blazers will be needed.
Sounds very much like school, I know. But if you were in the situation, and if you can get the picture, it is nice to see everyone dressing up to working properly =)
#3: I know I do not fancy accounts
It could be due to the fact that I do not enjoy finance which explains why I do not enjoy my intern at all. At least now I know, I will not do accounts in the future.
#4: Lunch mates are fun
Colleagues are definitely out of the picture of fun company. But I am glad I met a bunch of people who are out-going in all ways and be a part of their lunch bunch *Winks*
I thought hard on this, REALLY! But I honestly cannot think of any fun things during intern. I welcome suggestions anyway =)
What a Weekend Means
Written May 11. 2007 in
WorkAfter the first week of my internship with CIMBG, I finally get a breather of the weekend. I never knew how much the weekend meant to working adults until I went through intern myself. Getting up at 6 in the morning everyday, just to make it just in time for work at 8.30am! *phew* exclusive of the jam, it only takes me 20 minutes to reach Jalan Semantan. (believe it!) parking is expensive, traffic jam woos... If it was not for the prestige of the bank and the good of my resume, I would not have done that. Thank God is Friday! *winks*
