Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah
Written September 03. 2007 in
School,
FamilyAfter a long weekend, to many 12-year-old, today is the beginning of the crucial UPSR examination battle.
One of them would be my ignorant and never-cared-less brother, Bryan. I rang home to check if he had difficulties while attempting the questions earlier this afternoon. His reply was merely predictable. The classic "Okay kua (paused)" *LOL* I heard numerous complaints from mum on his attitude towards the exam. She constantly made this particular comment on how different it is to 'educate' her son in comparison to her daughters.
It had been a long time since someone at home sits for the UPSR examination. And being the 'baby' at home, everybody is very anxious on behalf of this little boy.
The exam began with Bahasa Malaysia Penulisan this morning and Mathemathics Paper 1 in the afternoon; Mathematics Paper 2 tommorow and Science as well as English as the finale of the examination. (If I am not mistaken-larr) ;p
The Malaysian Inaugural Economics Debate Championship (MIEDC): My Experience

School,
Home,
CompetitionI am back for the rest of the semester. The short trip home was very satisfying, I must say. I spent a lot of time at home (which I have longed to do!) Despite losing horribly for the competition earlier, I never regret joining it. Oh well, if you were anticipating for the results, my team finished almost last place every round of the preliminary rounds hence, we did not qualify ourselves for the following rounds.
I consoled myself numerous times as my ultimate objective of joining this competition was to go home. To top it all, I had NO debating experience before this. We were selected for the fact that this was a debate based on Economics motions. But hell, neither of them had any Economics knowledge.
We debated in the British Parliamentary format which made a huge difference in comparison to the normal 3 on 3 Asian debating style. There are 4 teams debating with 2 members in each team. Formats and all, it took us a while to digest *LOL*
It was just unfortunate that UNIMAS decided to send their economics students instead of the debate team. These debaters do not even know the motion well enough to debate on the topics. But heck again, I did not go with a goal.
Needless to elaborate, we lost. However, I am glad I made a lot of new friends from all over the country. There were even 3 teams from Thailand which made it more 'international' *LOL* And I guess, it was the university's objective also, to make its name known to the rest of the country as well, did not matter if we win or not. Again, it could have been better if the motions were defined correctly ;)

A Decade Since Primary School?
Written June 25. 2007 in
Friends,
Outings,
SchoolI met up with some primary school friends earlier. We were catching up with old times and people whom we knew since then. Not many of us made it , though. But I have to say the short meeting made my weekend =)
Names like Hazem and Nurul was one of those few which we did not missed. But we recalled many of them, too. I honestly do not think Ibrahim, Desmond and Jo-Lynn changed from 10 years ago but I am not too sure about Hanafi, though. *laughs*
Ibrahim, who is always the enthusiastic one, is actually planning for a gathering in the old school itself and whoever from UPSR batch 1997 are all invited. I am looking forward to that. Seeing Desmond who improved from reading the time leaves me with curiosity about the rest of the Seafieldians junior *LOL*
But still, I cannot accept the fact that I have actually left primary school for almost a decade now. Thanks to all the advancement of technologies which made it possible for us to get in touch after such a long time! Friendster is one of them =) Memories from primary school is just unbelievable!
